The Bulasterone™ formulation incorporates compounds that are known sex
hormone precursors, protein synthesis mediators, and testosterone
signaling modulators, which work through stimulation of the sex hormones
directly responsible for regulating testosterone production;
specifically, through enhanced secretion of gonadotropin-releasing
hormone (GnRH) by the hypothalamus and luteinizing hormone (LH) by the
pituitary.
The Bulasterone formulation begins with a unique 100:1 extract of
Bulbine natalensis, which has gained recent acclaim for its
testosterone-boosting properties, and is the cornerstone ingredient in
Bulasterone™. In a recent study, researchers evaluated what effect
Bulbine natalansis extract has on various levels of key sex hormones.
Subjects in this study demonstrated an increase in the plasma
concentrations of LH and testosterone of 169% and 347%, respectively, a
decrease in estrogen of 35%, and no change in prolactin, as compared to
a control group. Of significance in these findings is the remarkable
ability of a single compound to simulanteously “direct” all four of
these sex hormones. Generally, any compound that results in an increase
in testosterone will most always result in an increase in both estrogen
and prolactin. Increased levels of prolactin counteract many of the
positive benefits of increased levels of testosterone and exacerbate
estrogen expression.
Bulasterone™ also contains several additional testosterone-boosting
compounds that have been investigated for their ability to act as highly
potent anabolic and anti-catabolic muscle-building compounds. These
compounds include Tribulus terrestris extract (protodioscin), sodium
D-aspartic acid, 6-keto-diosgenin (25R spirostan-5a-diol-6-one-3-one)
undecanoate, and 5-methyl-7-methoxyflavone.
Several human studies have documented the ability of a potent Tribulus
terrestris extract (protodioscin) to significantly enhance the
production of LH, which is the direct hormonal trigger for testosterone
production. One such study documented a resulting increase in plasma
testosterone levels of over 40%. Unfortunately, for the past decade, the
sports nutrition market has been riddled with low potency Tribulus
products, which is attributable not only to poor quality extracts, but
also to inferior standardization methods and extraction processes.
Bulasterone, on the other hand, contains the highest standardized
version of Bulgarian Tribulus terrestris extract on the market.
Bulasterone utilizes an extract of Tribulus terrestris that consists of
60% protodioscin, 70% furastanol saponins, and 90% total saponins
content, which Hi-Tech puts through multiple extraction processes to
ensure optimal potency.
Bulasterone also contains sodium D-aspartic acid, which plays a pivotal
role in the production of sex hormones. Human studies indicate that this
compound produces enhanced plasma concentrations of LH and an
anticipated correlation in greater plasma concentrations of
testosterone. Several studies have been performed in which healthy,
relatively young men were administered a daily dosage of approximately
3gm of D-aspartic acid. Subjects in these studies demonstrated a
resulting 33-50% increase in plasma testosterone levels in as quickly as
12 days. It’s no well-guarded secret that the sports nutrition industry
is laced with products that contain cost-cutting daily dosages of
ingredients that are far less than the dosage validated by science to be
efficacious. So it should come as no big surprise that most
testosterone-boosting products that contain D-aspartic acid fall
significantly short in providing the scientifically-validated requisite
dosage. Bulasterone, however, contains the full efficacious 3gm dosage
of sodium D-aspartic acid per serving.
Bulasterone also incorporates 6-keto-diosgenin (25R
spirostan-5a-diol-6-one-3-one) undecanoate, which Russian scientists
have concluded demonstrates a 33 to 1 anabolic to androgenic ratio,
5-methyl-7-methoxyflavone, and also turkesterone, which is one of the
primary active constituents in Rhaponticum carthamoides extract (RCE).
Turkesterone is an anabolic, protein synthesis mediator that has been
used by elite Russian athletes since the early 1970s to enhance the
anabolic activity of testosterone, specifically by supporting
magnification of the translational phase of protein synthesis.
