OxyBolin 250® to prevent deactivation of these compounds during their
first-pass through the liver.
Rhaponticum carthamoides extract (RCE) is center stage in OxyBolin
250®, which derives its traditional name, Maral Root, from the Maral
deer that feed on it where it grows wild in Southern Siberia and the
Kazakhstan region. The anabolic benefits of RCE have been documented by
a large volume of research that began in the early 1970s by Russian
scientist Dr. V.N. Syrov and his colleagues, then subsequently by
several teams of researchers in Eastern Bloc countries. This research
demonstrated that RCE is a classic adaptogen, possessing a wide spectrum
of anabolic activities, with remarkable action on the contractile
proteins of the skeletal muscles. RCE utilizes pathways that cause a
cascading effect, which leads to a number of insulin and IGF-1
responses, including enhancing protein synthesis and glucose uptake,
stabilizing glycogen levels, and increasing blood flow to the muscles.
RCE has also been shown to reduce body fat by favorably influencing
lipolysis and lipogenesis. The most significant aspect of RCE is its
ability to trigger more protein synthesis via non-hormonal pathways by
interacting directly at the juncture of protein synthesis within muscle
cells. RCE goes directly to the core component of cellular RNA activity
to hyper activate more rapid protein chain assembly. This, in turn,
further enhances the production of muscle. This is a fundamentally
different method of action than that of certain banned substances
because RCE does not bind to testosterone or estrogen receptor sites.
Thus, RCE activity does not cause any of the androgenic, thymolytic, or
antigonadotropic effects associated with the use of banned compounds.
The most active compounds in RCE are called ecdysteroids, which include
ecdysterone (also called 20-hydroxyecdysone), sileneoside A, and
turkesterone. Hi-Tech standardizes its RCE to both 20-hydroxyecdysone
and turkesterone.
During the past twenty years, researchers have been able to isolate and
identify specific RCE compounds. Their findings have led to great
advancements being made in regard to uncovering the vast benefits
associated with RCE. At least seven Eastern Bloc scientific teams have
completed comprehensive research studies on 20-hydroxyecdysone, with
additional research conducted by Russian scientist Dr. Zakir Ramazonov,
who believes that turkesterone is the most potent RCE compound. Although
Russian and Eastern European athletes have been using RCE as a part of
their anabolic arsenals for nearly 40 years, RCE represents a new class
of muscle-building compounds for bodybuilders and athletes in the United
States. In the past, there was little interest outside of the Russian
and Eastern Bloc athletic communities for the use of these compounds
because they were not easily accessible and there wasn't a
cost-effective method to extract or synthesize the RCE compounds.
However, recent breakthroughs have meant that these compounds can now be
isolated in an extremely concentrated form, which has allowed Hi-Tech to
further perfect an extraction process to pump up the dosage of RCE in
OxyBolin 250® to the threshold level required to yield this compound's
anabolic and ergogenic benefits. In addition to RCE research, the
Russians have also made substantial progress with research on other
structurally similar compounds, such as 6-ketodiosgenin (also contained
in OxyBolin 250®) and 25R, spirostan-5a-diol-6-one-3-one (ecdybolin),
which are obscure compounds that Hi-Tech incorporates in many of its
Muscle & Strength products. These compounds have remained elusive to
most supplement companies in the United States due to the scarcity of
the raw materials and their high cost. Hi-Tech obtains all of its RCE
from Russia, which is a much more expensive (at least ten times more)
and certainly a better quality extract than the inferior material being
imported from China by only a very few other supplement companies, whose
motive for inclusion of the compound in the product's formulation is
simply for window dressing. There is no window dressing on a Hi-Tech
label!
